I recently had the privilege of helping to man a poppy stall at the Snodland Co-op, raising vital funds for the Royal British Legion. It was a rewarding day, made all the more special by the generosity and kindness shown by members of our local community.
The stall was led by our fantastic organiser, Chris Gentry, whose commitment and enthusiasm ensured everything ran smoothly. Chris’s hard work and dedication were clear throughout the day, and it was a pleasure to support him in such an important cause.
It was heartening to see so many residents stop to donate, collect poppies, and take a moment to reflect on why the Poppy Appeal matters. Every contribution, whether large or small, helps the Royal British Legion continue its essential work supporting veterans, serving personnel, and their families.
Spending time at the stall also provided a great opportunity to speak with local people, hear their stories, and share in a collective sense of remembrance and gratitude. The conversations we had were a powerful reminder of the respect our community holds for those who have served, and the importance of continuing to support them in practical ways.
I would like to extend a sincere thank you to everyone who donated, to the staff at Snodland Co-op for their support, and especially to Chris Gentry for leading the effort so effectively. Events like this show the very best of community spirit, and I am proud to have played a small part in helping raise funds for such a vital organisation.
Lest we forget.
